SPIEGEL Live - Das Gespräch

Are children little adults? Or should you play as much as possible? This question is repeatedly negotiated by philosophy and has already been a concern for thinkers such as Plato, Socrates or Nietzsche. Whatever the answer, parents rarely raise their children expectantly. But what does the ideal childhood look like? And do they even exist? In this episode of SPIEGEL Live - The Conversation, SPIEGEL editor Bettina Musall speaks to the philosopher Christoph Quarch. The conversation was created in cooperation with the Bucerius Kunst Forum and is available to you as a podcast.

HOW BRUTAL WAS THE MIDDLE AGE REALLY?

Brutal battles, bloody carnage and rough fighting: films and series stage medieval wars as archaic affairs. They continue to fascinate us to this day and thus shape our view of history. In the current episode of the podcast SPIEGEL Live - Das Gespräch, SPIEGEL editor Eva-Maria Schnurr talks to historian Martin Clauss about the importance of conflicts for the population and whether societies today solve their conflicts in a more civilized way than in the supposedly dark Middle Ages.

The discussion was developed in cooperation with the Bucerius Kunst Forum and is available as a podcast in german language.
