How to Exhibition

Our Guide for Visiting the Exhibition

There isn’t much to keep in mind when planning your visit, as we’ve compiled everything important in this guide How to Exhibition. Our main goal is to ensure you have a fantastic visit while always prioritizing the safety of the exhibits. Many of the artworks are very old, valuable, and unique - so special care is required from anyone who comes into contact with them.

For any further questions, feel free to reach out to us at info@remove-this.buceriuskunstforum.de

1. When do I have to pay?

An admission ticket is only required when you enter the exhibition. Exploring the rest of the building and its architecture, browsing through the Bucerius Book Shop, and viewing the Staircase Intervention, also known as art in the stairwell, are all free of charge.

Tip

More information about our ticket prices, discounts, and possible free admission days can be found on our ticket page.

2. We lighten the load...

...by leaving large bags and backpacks behind. Lockers and a coat check are available in the basement to store your belongings for a carefree visit to the exhibition.

Small backpacks and bags are allowed in the exhibition room. The comparison is an A4 sheet of paper: if the bag is smaller than that, you can bring it into the exhibition.

3. Flash Alert

Enjoying the exhibition? Feel free to take photos and videos for personal memories or to share with family and friends — just remember, no flash!

For some exhibitions, we may indicate that photography isn't allowed. While we’re big fans of photos, copyright restrictions sometimes prevent it, and we, of course, respect that.

4. Don’t touch this …

Even artworks have their privacy. Striking the right balance between providing visitors with the best art experience and ensuring the necessary protection of the pieces can be delicate. We love for you to take a close look and discover every detail of the works — just please do so from a distance and without touching them.

5. Careless whisper

Icon mit zwei Sprechblasen

We want to be a place of exchange - contrary to the idea of the “sacred exhibition hall”, where it is best not to talk. Art can be explored, experienced and also discussed here. To ensure that others do not feel disturbed, we would like to ask everyone to talk at a low volume. Even a short phone call is no problem. For longer and more intimate conversations, we ask you to use our common areas outside the exhibition.

Silent versus Sound

Art can, however, be discovered in many different ways — sometimes in quiet reflection, sometimes in a lively atmosphere. That’s why we are introducing two new formats to meet the individual needs of our visitors.

Discover our Silent Strolls – art in quiet mode every Monday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and every Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., the livelier art experience with Sound Strolls – where art meets music.

6. The Last Supper

Icon Essen

How about some refreshments before or after your visit of the exhibition? You can eat and drink in our lounge areas outside the exhibition or on the 2nd floor. On the 2nd floor, everyone can make themselves comfortable in our oasis with a view of the town hall, where we provide cold drinks on a pay-what-you-wish basis. And the cigarette afterwards can be enjoyed outside under the Hamburg sky.

7. Baby on Bord

Icon Kegel und Bowlingball

Even better: Baby in the exhibition! So that art can be viewed lighthearted with children, baby carriages are allowed in the show room. However, please ensure that the freedom of movement of other visitors is not restricted.

Tip

Our specially designed guided tour Mit Kunst und Kegel offers parents and their babies the opportunity to experience the exhibition in a parent-friendly atmosphere.

8. Dog, Cat, Mouse

Unfortunately, the exhibition is taboo for our beloved four-legged friends and they have to stay outside. However, assistance animals are very welcome!

9. Safety first

If you have any uncertainties or questions, our service staff at the checkout and in the building are always happy to help. Especially when things get tricky, it is very important that we all follow their instructions at all times.

10. What to wear?

We come as we are: Whether in a black turtleneck sweater or jogging pants!
