Staircase Intervention

Staircase Intervention at the Bucerius Kunst Forum

With its Staircase Interventions, the Bucerius Kunst Forum regularly invites young artists to create and display works next to the staircase of the exhibition venue. The art space is thus extended from the original exhibition space on the first floor via the staircase, through the windows of the building façade and into Hamburg's city centre.

The artist Anna Haifisch (*1986) presents for the first Staircase Intervention a work specially created for the Bucerius Kunst Forum. Four posters humorously depict the daily lives of artists caught between creativity and stagnation, dream and reality. As the setting, Haifisch has chosen the very staircase that shapes the appearance of the Bucerius Kunst Forum. Yet it equally symbolises the influence of cultural institutions on the artistʼs day-to-day existence.
