Henri Cartier-Bresson is one of the most famous photographers of the 20th century. With an unerring sense for the “decisive moment”, he captured spontaneous encounters and situations, turning them into timeless compositions. As an outstanding representative of street photography, his style became formative.
The Bucerius Kunst Forum is dedicating the first major retrospective in Germany in 20 years to the co-founder of the legendary Magnum Photos agency. In addition to his early surrealist photographs and film works, as well as Cartier-Bresson’s photo reportages, the presentation will include portraits of famous artists and writers, as well as his later photographs, which focus on human behaviour.
The exhibition is produced in cooperation with the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson, Paris.
