6 Piano Pieces for Sebastian Knauer

In collaboration with the pianist Sebastian Knauer, we will take you on a unique musical journey through the exhibition Minimal Art. Bodies in Space . In front of iconic works of Minimal Art, Sebastian Knauer presents the 6 Piano Pieces for Sebastian Knauer by Michael Nyman.

The English composer Michael Nyman, best known for his music for numerous films by Peter Greenaway, was the first to use the term "minimalism" to describe the new musical style, which he has since represented as one of its most prominent composers alongside Steve Reich and Philip Glass.

Knauer engaged Nyman to compose 6 piano pieces based on sonatas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In doing so, he combines two composers, both of whom he holds in high esteem, while building a musical bridge between the music of the 18th century classical master and 21st century minimal music.

In front of Robert Morris' felt work, Dan Flavin's fluorescent tubes, Sol LeWitt's Cube-Cube and other minimalist works, Sebastian Knauer will impressively demonstrate the interplay of Minimal Music and Minimal Art while presenting you with 6 Piano Pieces for Sebastian Knauer.
