Opening festival

Welcome to the new Bucerius Kunst Forum

The Bucerius Kunst Forum will celebrate its re-opening on 7 June at Alter Wall 12. For the first two weeks, the admission to the new Bucerius Kunst Forum will be free of charge for all visitors. The opening weeks will then conclude with a three-day opening festival featuring a varied programme of events.
The festival-entrance is free of charge.

Friday night will kick off with an introduction to the exhibition - Here We Are Today. A View of the World in Photography and Video Art. Afterwards, Kampf der Künste will hold a poetry slam at which contestants will pay tribute to the new Bucerius Kunst Forum in poetic performances accompanied by live drawings. Musical performances and cold drinks will set the right mood for the evening.

On Saturday, visitors can look forward to a varied programme of exhibition tours, discussions, readings, lectures and music.

Michel Abdollahi will moderate a panel discussion on the topic of identity, homeland and what we see as foreign; Julian Petrin will discuss the city of the future with Michael Göring and others; SPIEGEL editor Eva-Maria Schnurr will moderate a discussion with guests including Tobias Rau, who will talk about time as a resource and about his volunteer work for Viva con Agua; and Tatiana Matthiesen will speak with guests about the project WEICHENSTELLUNG in Hamburg.

The HipHop Academy and fellows of the foundation Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben will provide musical entertainment.

In the exhibition, curator Kathrin Baumstark will talk with artists Johanna Diehl and Eva Leitolf about their works.

Hanjo Kesting will dedicate a reading to the topic of Europe. Architect Sebastian Flatau and Bucerius Kunst Forum Managing Director Andreas Hoffmann will speak about the architecture of the new exhibition space.
 

A colourful programme for the whole family with guided tours, workshops and studio courses will wrap up the three-day festival. Participants in the project Students Guide Students will present selected works from the exhibition; Viva con Agua and the Aqua-Agenten from the Umweltstiftung Michael Otto will hold workshops on what is involved in handling the resource of water; and the Mädchenchor Hamburg will perform.

In the entrance foyer of the new Bucerius Kunst Forum you can buy coffee, cold drinks, wine, beer, ice cream and snacks at the First Love Coffee-Bar.
